The asking price is a staggering £13,676 a square foot for the home with a floor area of 4,661 square feet – equivalent to a £63.75 million asking price.
Nestling high on the exclusive Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, the home has a terrace that includes a full-sized pool with spectacular views over distant islands and mountains and the city’s harbour.
The home shattered the previous price per square foot record for a home – also set in Hong Kong mansion on the Peak sold for just over £62 million.
Other more expensive properties are on sale around the world – mainly in the United States – but their price is often based on an estate value and not price per square foot of living space.
Private nightclub
One of the most expensive homes awaiting a buyer is the exclusive 1011 North Beverley Hills, Los Angeles, California.
At an asking price of around £80 million, the home, once owned by media magnet Randolph Hearst has a private nightclub, a pool, gym and guest lodges.
President Kennedy and wife Jackie reportedly spent part of their honeymoon on the estate.
Celebrity homes on the market come at a much cheaper price – but still well beyond the reach of normal buyers holding down a job.
Singer and actress Jay-Lo’s former home is a snip at £25 million. That kind of cash buys a 200 foot waterfront, stunning views over Miami, Florida, and a whole lot of house including an 800-bottle wine cellar.
Across the pond in Milan, Italy, Santo Versace’s home is up for sale with a £41 million price tag.
Modest prices
At a more modest price is former Saint and James Bond actor Roger Moore’s luxurious home near Denham, Buckinghamshire.
With five bedrooms, a well-clipped garden and guest cottage, the estate weighs in at a modest £4.5 million.
Other superstar celebrity homes on the market include Robbie Williams’ country mansion and 70 acre estate in Wiltshire for £5.5 million and X-Factor judge Talisa’s five-bed mansion set in several acres near Potter’s Bar, Hertfordshire.
Talisa’s selling for £4.5 million after owning the home for less than a year.
If you want to follow in the footsteps of the world’s most expensive footballer, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has his former home in Cheshire up for sale for just shy of £1 million.
